The booming of Shenzhen

Modern Shenzhen

The beautiful city Shenzhen is located in southern China, in the west of the district Guangdong, at the border of Hongkong region.

The city in the Pearl River Delta was the first Special Economic Zone in China. This was originally established in 1979, due to its proximity to Hong Kong, then a prosperous British colony, to attract industrial investments from Hong Kong.

The concept was a big success, propelling the further opening of China and continuous economic reform.

The one-time fishing village of Shenzhen became one of the largest cities in the Pearl River Delta region, which has become one of the most powerful economic centers as well as a large manufacturing base.
